Summary:

Roadrash was always a favorite for me growing with consoles such as the Nintendo entertainment system, the Sega Genesis, and of course the super Nintendo entertainment system. But as for the Sega Genesis, I feel was far better. I played the Roadrash game many times after coming home from school, after eating dinner, after many things. It offered a new sort of excitement to the game. It was edgy, with characters like Biff, Slater, with their empty threats. Also, RR has weapons. What could be better for 8 year old kid, who cant drive yet...Motorcycles and weapons. And what could be better than its classic American influenced Japanese synthesizer techno rock music soundtrack?

The Roadrash Game had to have been one of the very first to incorporate physics into a game. Meaning, its bikes had different variants to them. Some handled better, but may not have been as quick. Some would hold a straight line much better, while the heavier bikes would hold their ground better while being kicked by the computer players. Some bikes could take more punishment than others, for you could wreck your bike, and instead of winning money having to pay for the costs to repair your broken, wrecked mangled mess of a bike.

Road Rash's layout and leveling up, although you are racing the same tracks through and through, the tracks become a little longer, the computer bikes get faster, and their skill level or A.I. would also increase. Always driven to get to the next bike. Being a child I would go after a particular bike. The Katana. It was yellow, weighed less than the Diablo 1200 (The Diablo being the top bike, it was a beast weighing the most but going down the tracks at a blistering 180 MPH, but was hindered buy the fact that it handled like 1964 Nova Chevy II) and handled like a new set of tires on a Subaru WRX Sti. With such innovation in a 16 bit console, you don't wonder how we have such great games on modern consoles today.

The idea of having this RoadRash game on a modern platform, or to have it put out on PC with today gaming and graphic technology certainly does excite me. If you ask me, the best candidate would have to be Rockstar, for they are the only company with enough edge to bring back the edgy, raw feeling of Roadrash. Happy gaming!
